The library has operated continuously since 1893. In 1965, the library's charter changed to include the towns of Queensbury and Moreau. In 1958, Crandall Public Library became the Central Reference Library of the Southern Adirondack Library System. New York State provides special funding for Crandall Public Library to serve the residents of Warren, Washington, Saratoga and Hamilton counties.
